Abstract:

Ammonia is involved in agriculture and energy two core areas of bioeconomy. Clean ammonia, which does not depend on fossil resources and has no carbon dioxide emissions, can be used as a green fertilizer and provide a clean fuel with no carbon emissions, which can help promote the green transformation of agriculture and energy. This paper reviews the current status of bioammonia development in terms of technical advantages, major production technologies, applications, and commercialization challenges, and analyzes the feasibility of developing bioammonia as an important tool for the green transformation of agriculture and energy in the context of China's actual situation. Biorefining agricultural and forestry wastes to obtain high-value products such as biochar and pulp, bio-polyester, bio-fuel, etc. The production of clean ammonia from biochar to hydrogen using existing ammonia synthesis plants can compete economically with traditional fossil ammonia. China has 1 billion tons of usable agricultural and forestry waste as raw material security every year, and the production of 60 million tons of bio-ammonia can increase farmers’ income by 120 billion yuan, create 10000 billion yuan of output value, and reduce 200 million tons of carbon dioxide, which plays an important role in promoting the high-quality development of bio-economy.
